M. Chapoutier, St Joseph ‘Les Granits’ Blanc
Tasting note from barrel (April 2020): Les Granits white: still in storage at this stage, but already aniseedy
fennel tones dominate. On the palate, a noble bitterness builds, the whole
structured by the wine’s persistent palatability.
Here, M. CHAPOUTIER wanted to allow the terroir to express its full potential. The wine is therefore vinified as a single varietal in order not to distort the terroir’s expression. It is a fine wine with great balance and depth. This Saint-Joseph is one of the quintessential whites from the Tournon vineyards and is one of the noble fine wines from the Northern Rhône.
M Chapoutier’s ‘Selections Parcellaires’ (Single Vineyard Selectons) are exceptional wines, born from a single plot. A celebration of terroir. Farmed biodynamically with the highest respect for the soil, the vines and the environment.
