M. Chapoutier, Ermitage, ‘Les Greffieux’ Rouge Magnum
Tasting note from barrel (April 2020): Les Greffieux: great levels of concentration where grilled blackberry notes combine with an atypical exotic side, delivering a complex wine.
Located on the first slopes at the foot of Le Meal, this terroir of recent fluvial alluvium is one of the most characteristic sedimentary soils on the Hermitage hillside. The heat given off by the white pebbles sitting on the surface of the soil lends the wine concentration and great expression, while the deep clay soil adds finesse and long-lasting aromas.
M Chapoutier’s ‘Selections Parcellaires’ (Single Vineyard Selectons) are exceptional wines, born from a single plot. A celebration of terroir. Farmed biodynamically with the highest respect for the soil, the vines and the environment.
