M. Chapoutier, Ermitage, ‘L’Ermite’ Rouge Magnum
Tasting note from barrel (April 2020): L’Ermite red: great depth, where the acidity sublimes the wine and confers upon it perfect balance. Delicate tannins on the palate and incredible persistence.
Overlooking the granite hilltop of the Hermitage hill, the soil on this terroir is loose and shallow due to the alteration of the bedrock. The late maturation of the plot due to its altitude allows the grapes to ripen over an extended period of time. The result is a pure, distinguished and complex wine with remarkable tension.
M Chapoutier’s ‘Selections Parcellaires’ (Single Vineyard Selectons) are exceptional wines, born from a single plot. A celebration of terroir. Farmed biodynamically with the highest respect for the soil, the vines and the environment.
