M. Chapoutier, Ermitage, ‘Le Pavillon’ Rouge Magnum
M. Chapoutier, Ermitage, ‘Le Pavillon’ Rouge Magnum
Tasting note from barrel (April 2020): Le Pavillon: the structure is very much under construction but this vintage is already very distinguished, with its graphite and petrichor notes suggesting greater things to come.
Situated on the Les Bessards hillside, famed for its red wines, the Le Pavillon plot is characterised by its slightly decomposed granite soils. This highly distinctive terroir endows the wines with notes of black fruit, Indian ink and graphite. These dense wines with lovely tight tannins are well suited to cellar-ageing.
M Chapoutier’s ‘Selections Parcellaires’ (Single Vineyard Selectons) are exceptional wines, born from a single plot. A celebration of terroir. Farmed biodynamically with the highest respect for the soil, the vines and the environment.
