M. Chapoutier, Ermitage, ‘Le Meal’ Rouge Magnum
Tasting note from barrel (April 2020): Le Méal red: small black fruit notes sublime its elegance thanks to its protection from the sun’s effects and an early harvest. Fine tannins, beautiful freshness on the palate: a wine of rare balance.
With its south-facing terraces of pebbles and loess, this steep hillside is the sunniest terroir in the Hermitage appellation. The Syrah achieves advanced levels of maturity here, developing soft tannins, notes of blackberry and characteristic delicate smoky nuances.
M Chapoutier’s ‘Selections Parcellaires’ (Single Vineyard Selectons) are exceptional wines, born from a single plot. A celebration of terroir. Farmed biodynamically with the highest respect for the soil, the vines and the environment.
