Domaine de la Vougeraie, Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru “Clos de Thorey” 2019
“Maximum 12 bottles per person.
90-92 pts from Neal Martin:
“”The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Thorey 1er Cru comes from a monopole almost equally divided between 50-year-old vines and younger vines planted in 2012. Including 20% whole bunch, it has an attractive nose of dark berry, brown spices, black pepper and light Earl Grey aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, harmonious and silky-smooth, the whole bunch adding a little spice and gaminess toward a finish that fans out gently. Good potential here. “”
Domaine de la Vougeraie was created in 1999 when Jean-Claude Boisset combined all of his vineyard holdings from his various négociant companies into one. The name was inspired by Boisset’s significant holdings in the village of Vougeot. The domaine covers over 25 hectares of vineyards in more than 20 different appellations, including 6 Grand Crus and 7 Premier Crus. Through a holistic vision incorporating biodynamic practices the team are producing top quality wines, each with a distinct sense of place in an elegant satisfying style.Biodynamic”
