Domaine de la Pousse d’Or, Bonnes Marres Grand Cru 2019
“Maximum 6 bottles per person.
90-95 points from Jasper Morris MW:
“”Dense purple. Classy nose here, The Bonnes Mares has reacted better to the heat than the Clos de la Roche. The lick of vanilla from the barrel works well with it. This is very sensual and fills the mouth. The idiom is of course of ripe fruit with some blueberry, but there are fresher red notes running through the middle. Thick sumptuous texture, and very good length. Tasted: October 2020″”
Thanks to rapid investment in the land and the winery by Patrick Landanger and his son Benoit there has been a contemporary surge in quality at the domaine. The iconic homestead is unmissable as you drive into the village of Volnay where the majoirty of the holdings are located. Beyond the Côte de Beaune there are enviable holdings in Chambolle Musigny too. Biodynamic pracitces are followed. The four storey cuverie is sunk into the hill behind the house accommodating gravity fed winemaking and extensive barrel and more recently amphorae cellars The wines exude elegance and finesse in an unashamedly modern style which has captured the attention of collectors and drinkers worldwide.
