Tasting Notes
Vinous 90
The 2022 Lagrange, the Pomerol estate not Saint-Julien, was picked 6-13 September, pure Merlot as usual. Fairly uncomplicated on the nose, one could argue that it feels a little monotone compared to its peers, though its purity of fruit should be applauded. There’s almost a minty element to these aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied, and well balanced, with dark chocolate infusing the black fruit. Good weight with ample freshness on the finish. What it lacks in intellectual heft is compensated with a sense of joie-de-vivre. So much better than this estate was producing a decade ago.
